"Three 4 Bea"
Composed and Arranged By: Dean Sorenson
Instrumentation: Big Band
Publisher: KJOS Neil A. Kjos Music Company
Grade 3 Jazz Waltz Tempo = 172 $40.00
" Three 4 Bea"is a minor blues written in a jazz waltz feel. The overall feel should be light, and the dynamic level should not get too loud until the shout section beginning at bar 142. It is suggested by the composer to give special care in keeping the dynamic level of the unison lines low in order to keep the tempo from dragging.

Even though the solo is written for the first trombone part, (Dean is a trombonist) the solo section can be opened up for as many soloists as the director feels he/she wants. If the solos are spread around the director can cue the backgrounds as needed.

Dean Sorenson has written and arranged a very nice jazz waltz that will fit most bands on the middle school and high school levels. The music is basic in style and never gets too complicated for any good middle school or high school jazz ensemble. If you’re looking for a nice middle of the concert jazz piece in a waltz style this is it.

Top note for trumpet Bb above the staff
